Pollyn is hard to place into a specific genre. Born out of their mutual love for the sample-heavy 90’s electronic scene, Pollyn makes atmospheric music influenced by down-tempo, new wave, funk, world and traditional pop.
A three piece from Los Angeles, Pollyn consists of vocalist Genevieve Artadi, guitarist Anthony Cava, and beat maker/percussionist Adam Jay Weissman. Originally sampling old records to make their music, Pollyn has matured throughout the years incorporating live percussion, synthesizers, and vintage drum machines to their signature sound.
Since releasing their debut album, 2009’s This Little Night, Pollyn has been consistently playing shows through out the west coast, opening for bands such as Little Dragon, Dengue Fever, Entrance Band, as well as playing KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic & LA’s summer street festival, Sunset Junction. In 2009, they were the #69th most played record on KCRW and have remixed several high profile acts, including Gorillaz, Liquid Liquid, Buffalo Daughter, & Health.
The release of Pollyn’s sophomore album Living In Patterns was placed in Rough Trade’s top 100 albums of 2011 at #16. The success of the album has extended Pollyn’s reach and has allowed them to play Art Basel in Florida and the upcoming Pukkelpop music festival in Belgium this August.
A re-release of Living In Patterns containing two new songs “Outta Luck” and “Lost in the Night” will be out June 10th on iTunes UK. The album has already seen remixes by DJ Harvey, Moodymann, Nozinja and eLan.
